Once I was home from Waco we started prepping for all things May! We had several fun events on the docket for the last month of school. We had a sealing in the Sacramento temple, a visit from Grandma and Pop Spung coming up, and a birthday we needed to celebrate, as well as a last day of school celebration. This is a look at May and all the fun we had!
Sacramento Temple
I was so honored to be a part of this families sealing in the temple. I had the opportunity to be Kristin's escort as she went through the temple for the first time. It was fun being able to teach her all the things. She was a little nervous but she did amazing! The temple is a place filled with peace, hope, and love. I always look forward to attending the temple and being able to learn more about my Savior.
A few days later my parents drove in for some Clark time! We were so excited to have them come stay with us for a week.
First stop, pedicures!
That night Mom and Dad watched the kiddos while Preston and I went to see Andrea Bocelli. I have loved Andrea Bocelli for some time. I think he is absolutely outstanding when it comes to his amazing vocals. His concert did not disappoint either. He did such a phenomenal job. I knew that this would most likely be the only time I would ever have the privilege of seeing him in my lifetime. After all the man lives in Tuscany!
I may or may not have cried multiple times during his performance. The pipes on this guy leave your mouth open, jaw on the floor, and tears falling. The orchestra, choir, and guest performances were all just as amazing.
The following Monday and Tuesday we got to go and cheer for the kids while they received awards from their second semester. Pres and I are SO proud of these three and all they have achieved.
Beckham turns 8!!
We surprised this sweet kid to a night at Great Wolf Lodge for his special day. We had such a fun time celebrating our Beckham Boy! It was our first time to the park. It is crazy huge and has a ton to do. We focused our stay on the park and it was plenty for us to stay entertained.
Beckham chose Chik Fil A as his special birthday dinner.
Grandma and Pop were apart of the festivities as well.
Such a happy boy!
Of course our football kid asked for a football cake :) I did my best to make that wish come true, haha.
We had a bunk room with a queen bed. The kids were in heaven with the sleeping accommodations :) They were also exhausted after a day full of slides, the wave pool, the basketball pool, and obstacle course they got to do. It was a blast!
Family Fun at the Lodge!
Mom and Dad's trip seemed to fly by. We of course still made some time for game and movie nights. It's never a complete trip unless we get some games in. We loved having them while they were here.
For some odd reason, I have found chocolate on people's teeth absolutely hilarious. I think it all started with my brother Jimmy and a few oreos, haha. Anyway, Jack was talking to me about his day and then smiled at me with this chocolatey grin. I started cracking up. It's the best.
I had the chance to volunteer for Quinn's carnival day at school. The teachers put together a bunch of obstacles and puzzles for the kids to do. It was loads of fun for everyone.
Jack had his very first piano recital and ROCKED it. He played the Star Wars theme and did an incredible job. I got a picture of him with Anna afterwards. Anna teaches both of us piano. I have been playing for year a half and Jack started in January. He has picked up on it so fast. We were so proud of his performance. Afterwards we grabbed some ice cream to celebrate!
Anna has been such an incredible friend over this past year and a half. We have bonded in so many ways. We have really taken piano to the next level and developed an awesome friendship. We look forward to our weekly meetings where we can catch up, offer advice, lean on one another, and at times cry with each other. Anna is an outstanding human being. She lost her husband unexpectedly two months before I started taking piano. As she has been processing her new look on life she is caring for her down syndrome sister named Claudia. In the times that I can take Quinn with me, she plays with Claudia who is 47 years old. Quinn and Claudia laugh at all kinds of things, play games, and Quinn tries teaching her how to count. It has been such a blessing to have these two in our lives.
Sports Day at the park!
The kids picked family sports day at the park from the cup. They were so excited to play every sport we could until the sun started going down. We enjoyed basketball, football, swinging, and running around the playground.
Last day of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade for these three! Make it count guys!
Preston had to go out of town so I surprised the kids with one more day at Great Wolf Lodge. It was the perfect ending to celebrate an awesome school year.
Pool time!
Beckham loved this little ropes course. He did it over and over again. Big smiles from our cute little man.
For dinner we got their pizza and it was pretty good.
A shot of the three amigos before leaving one last time.
The youth and parents of youth had the opportunity to listen to Elder Gary Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It was a wonderful meeting. Since I am Young Women President I was also invited to hear him. He talked about the new For Strength of Youth pamphlet and why learning to listen to the Spirit is so important.
Afterwards he asked to shake hands with each of the youth that came to hear him speak.
May was an exceptional month. We couldn't have asked for a better way to spend our last school month before heading into a crazy busy summer. Our summers go by so fast! We get eight weeks off before starting school again on August 3rd. Here's to hoping for an exciting eight weeks with plenty of rest, pool time, camps, and family fun!
