New Year...New Beginnings 2020!

Our family has had such a great time welcoming in this 2020 year. I look forward to keeping life a little more simple as I embrace the new decade. We started off this year on the coast of California. It was absolutely perfect! We loved our time soaking in the sun, having adventures along the shore lines, and listening to the crashing waves of the ocean. I personally couldn't imagine starting off this year any better. Traveling is clearly apart of me, so I was beyond thrilled that we began the new decade exploring more of our current home state.

Half way through this winter month I took off to Salt Lake City, Utah for a little siblings weekend. It was a weekend the five of us threw together at last minute. It just happened to work that we all had a weekend we could get away and the flights were super reasonable for Jim and I. We had all been wanting to get together but life tends to get in the way. Once we had this planned I started counting down the days. I can't remember the last time the five us did something like this.

Once I landed, Ang and I took off to do some retail therapy :) I love City Creek. It is such a cool mall. It literally has anything and everything you could need or want.

All Smiles! Let the shopping begin :)

We only had a couple hours to shop before everyone else would be joining up with us. Jim's flight got in a few hours after mine and Er and Britt were coming up with the parentals. It was so fun shopping along side Angie. We literally found everything we needed and maybe a few extras along the way :) We ate lunch at Blue Lemon and it did not disappoint. We shared a delicious sandwich and the BEST bowl of butternut squash soup I have ever eaten. The company for those few hours was a major bonus. There is nothing like a sister!

That night we planned to do a dinner with the original seven! We have not had dinner with just the seven of us in almost 20 years!! I think it was about time we did that :) We all met at Cheesecake Factory (of course) and talked and talked. We laughed a ton and had the best time catching up.

The Originals

After a delectable dinner along side these incredible souls we headed to our hotel for the weekend. Ang and I went to check in before we went shopping but there was a mistake with our room so Hampton HOOKED US UP! We got the King Suite with a living room and an adjoining double queen bedroom. It was literally like a penthouse suite. The coolest room I have ever stayed in. It was absolutely perfect! We could not have gotten a better room for the five us to catch up and laugh until the wee hours of the morning. After we showed Mom and Dad the penthouse suite we shipped them off so we could have some quality sibling time. We hot tubbed, ate snacks and drank all the Diet Coke we could handle until the early hours of the morning when our eyes just couldn't stay open any longer.

I brought a game that I had made up with a ton of questions. We would pass the baggy around and answer the question that was chosen. I hadn't laughed that hard in a LONG time. My abs were killing me by the end of the weekend. We laughed so hard we cried.  There was a truly a love in that room that no one could ever understand except for the original five. This is definitely my tribe, my people. There is no one in the world (other than Pres) that I trust more than these people. They have my heart and they love me no matter what. We have a bond that could never be broken. These are my peops!

The following morning Jimmy, Angie, Britt and I went to a hot yoga class. It may not have been the best idea after about 3-4 hours of sleep haha but we did it. It felt great and there was definitely sweating going on. We let the pregnant lady sleep in while we all exercised :) After yoga we met up with Er for breakfast.

Before yoga kicked our butts.

The after results. Dripping sweat and crazy hot.

Once we inhaled our breakfast we got ready for the day. We had one more thing on our agenda for the day. I was very much looking forward to this little treat too. I signed everyone up for an escape room! We did our best to solve the Egyptian crime and had two other people helping us along. Luckily the girl in charge gave us a few extra minutes in the end to solve it completely. We solved it but it was crazy hard. A lot of codes and gods were involved...haha. I think it's safe to say that we all had a great time though.

We had a mother and daughter that joined our crew.

Love these people! We had a blast working along side each other.

Once the Get Out games ended we headed to lunch at Red Rock for a tasty burger. We ate here on our sisters weekend and loved it so much we went back with Jim. That afternoon we settled in the hotel and spent some time in the hot tub and just relaxed. We ended up ordering pizza from the Pie and stayed in our jammies for the night. We literally just sat back, relaxed, talked, laughed and enjoyed the short time we had together.

The following morning Ang had to take off early for home so Jim and I snuck down to the gym while Britt and Er slept. It was so fun working out along side Jimmy. He helped me a TON and I also realized quite quickly that I have some areas that need some strengthening, haha. Like my lower abs...whew! That was a workout. Jim and I met up with Er and Britt for breakfast before packing up and heading out. Us girls dropped Jimmy off at Nate's house and we headed to lunch at Cafe Rio before I had to check in to my flight.

This weekend was EXACTLY what I needed and I can honestly say it was needed by all of us. There is nothing like reconnecting with the people you love and who know you the best. They ALWAYS have your back and will do anything for you. Growing up we had always been close but having a weekend like this just brought us all closer together. I think it's safe to say that this is the beginning of a new tradition that the five us will carry out for the rest of our lives.

January you rocked! I can't wait to see what February has to hold for us :)
