March - Football, Axe Throwing, and a Court Case

March was simple and sweet. I continue to move forward with my website — step by step, learning as I go. I took a class that helped me better understand the world of SEO (which is honestly no joke!). There are so many moving parts and behind-the-scenes steps in this tech world, especially when you're trying to stand out in a sea of talented photographers. It’s overwhelming at times, but I’m proud of the progress.

On the home front, Beckham started flag football and is loving it. Jack stepped into the role of a young lawyer and presented a full case at the Stockton Courthouse for his class’s mock trial — so proud of him! And sweet Quinn continues to shine in the kitchen as our go-to sous chef and baker.

Here’s a little peek into our March.

Homemade pizzas for the win! Loved these tasty pies. The kids helped me create these master pieces :)

Beckham is back at it. Right where he feels confidence, excitement, and the love of the game.

Me waiting for the practice to be over in this cold March night. As soon as the sun goes down, everyone is grabbing coats and hats. I wouldn't trade our winters for the Chicago ones though, haha. I'll take our cold 50's to windchill and below 0 fun, haha.

Axe throwing date was SO fun! We had never done this one before. It was suggested to us by a close friend and we jumped on the idea. We will for sure do this one again.

After A LOT of practice, we did it! Bulls Eye y'all!

I win!

We have a Lion in our family. Woohoo! Let's go Beckham boy!

Fancy dinner date out to the Falcon's Lair in Ripon. Such a fun place. My girlfriend brought me here for my birthday and I was so excited to bring Pres. We loved the food and ambience of this place.

This kid, haha.

Our favorite prosecutor!

I was asked to chaperone Jackson's mock trial. I was stoked when Ms. Williams asked me. I was so excited to watch this in action. One of the boys in Jack's class has a Mom that is a lawyer. She set up the entire mock trial. They had four lawyers, a judge, a stenographer, a bailiff, and court assistants. It was very cool to see all of the parts, and watch those that did as a living teach and prompt the kids in their lines and roles.

Many know the story of the Three Little Pigs. This court case was based around that story. Jack was defending one of the three little pigs (the one that survived) against the Big Bad Wolf. They had witnesses and a cop that was called onto the scene. Several of the kids were part of the jury taking notes along the way.

Jack presenting his evidence to the court assistant so it can be logged.

Our cute little lawyer.

Jackson's class was the only 5th grade class that got to participate in this trial. They practiced for weeks in the classroom, and had a couple lawyers stop by to coach them through what each piece meant and how to word it. It was such a cool experience for these kids to see. This will be the last year they do this mock trial because it was the lawyer's last kiddo to go through 5th grade. I kind of hope someone else takes up the tradition. The judge, lawyers, bailiff, and stenographer all came in on their days off to help assist the kids. It was so cool to see the support they brought to these guys.

This was one of the lawyers that helped Jack prepare his statements.

As for Jack, he LOVED this experience. He asked that I buy him a jacket so he could really look the part of lawyer :) He shined in there too. He kept his calm and was steady in his voice, even when the jury said the wolf won the case. There just wasn't enough evidence to get him. Jack may end up following in his Grandpa's footsteps and enter into the world of law :) He wants to go and see an actual trial now and how it all works.

Pres was excited to make little nests with the kids as our dessert for the week.

They all had a blast creating these little master pieces. I think Quinn enjoyed it quite a bit, haha. Pres got her with a spoon full of chocolate. She did not complain about that ;)

March was a perfect blend of laid-back moments, focused work, and fresh beginnings. It felt like one of those months where the days moved steadily, but in the best way — filled with meaningful progress, family rhythms, and little sparks of excitement for what’s ahead.

As we look ahead, the excitement is building. Next month, we head to Banff, Canada, and we’re all counting down the days. We cannot wait to explore the beauty of that place together — a dream trip full of mountains, adventure, and memories waiting to be made.
